Thank you for your continued interest and support of ARF. Our shelter animals are our top priority. Please review our current adoption process. Available animals may be viewed online or in person. Appointments are not necessary.
ARF requires staff, volunteers, and visitors to follow all current safety recommendations from Contra Costa Health Services.
Please do not come to ARF’s campus if you are currently experiencing any of the following symptoms. These symptoms may appear two to 14 days after exposure:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- Sore throat
- New loss of sense of taste or smell
- Runny nose
- Congestion
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
The following programs are currently suspended:
- Mobile spay/neuter services. Spay and neuter services are available to low-income guardians. Apply online to qualify here.
- Pet Loss Support Group
- All humane education and youth programs: birthday parties, Camp ARF, school visits, etc.
Be prepared to take care of your pet(s) in the event that you should become ill:
- Identify a family member or friend who can care for your companion.
- Have crates, food, and extra supplies (including medications) on-hand for quick movement of pet. A pet first-aid kit is also good to have for any unplanned situation.
- Ensure your animal’s vaccines are up-to-date in the event boarding becomes necessary.
- Document all medications with dosages and administering directions. Including the prescription from your veterinarian if a refill could be necessary.
- Pets should have identification such as an ID tag on their collar and/or a microchip. Remember: A microchip is only as good as the contact information registered to it.
