From basic manners for a range of canine ages to specialty classes like Puppy Socials and Canine Good Citizen Class, we have a variety of fun and engaging group training classes that will take your bond with your dog to the next level. Remember, a well-trained dog is a happy dog!
Before your first class (or even before signing up), please view our training policies. These policies are design not only for your and your pet’s safety, but to ensure classes run smoothly and effectively. Remember, both for shelter animals and public classes, all of ARF’s dog training is done via positive reinforcement methods.
Group Training Classes
Wallflowers
This class is for dogs that need to build confidence. We’ll work on building trust between new people and your dog as well as teaching you how to support your dog in new situations to help them feel more comfortable!
Canine Good Citizen™
Have a great time bonding with your pup while challenging your skills as a team! This class includes five weeks of preparation, culminating in an official Canine Good Citizen™ test in the final session.
Reactive Rover
This class is for people who are hypervigilant of their surroundings during walks with their dogs because they dread the barking and lunging that happens when their dog sees other dogs or people.
Puppy Social
The first months of your puppy’s life are crucial for their development. Puppy socials help put your pup on the path towards becoming a happy, confident, well-adjusted adult dog.
Adult Basic Obedience
Are you ready to fine-tune your dog’s skills? This class will dive into how to train your furry friend to be more responsive to commands, calmer in the house, and an overall more well-behaved dog.
Active Adolescents
Brush up on teenage canine manners at Active Adolescents class! We will go over basic obedience training along with how to curb your dog from jumping, pulling on the leash, and more.
Puppy Kindergarten
Learn how your puppy thinks while gaining crucial, foundational skills — including potty training, not jumping up on people, the importance of the crate, and basic obedience!
Private Consultations
Need one-on-one assistance for a particular challenge or behavior? Our behavior and training team offers private consultations for dog and cat guardians. Each consultation includes discussing behavior history, solidifying goals, and developing and evaluating a training and management plan. Our team uses humane, science-based training techniques and offers sessions at competitive rates.
Free Classes for Veterans
As part of our Pets and Vets program and our commitment to ensuring every military Veteran can experience the love of an adoring animal, we’ll soon be launching free basic obedience classes for ARF dogs adopted by Veterans. These weekly, 8-week classes are for dogs 6 months old and above.
